My nieces and nephews have always been my creative muses. Although I haven't photographed all 16 of them together at the same time, I have photographed them all at one point. Each of them have different personalities and different energy. Some are more quiet and shy, some are wild and outgoing. My two oldest nieces pictured here were largely a part of why I fell in love with photographing children and families. Their gorgeous blue eyes and textured hair have been the subject of many photographs. Sometimes I hate that I'm "that Aunt" who is always taking their picture, but, more often than not, I am incredibly thankful that they are a part of me and that I get to freeze moments in time that pass so quickly. The love I have for them is like the love of a Mother, or so I imagine. I love their toes, their freckles, their laugh, their stories, their million questions, their curiosity and even their tantrums. My favorite of all still remains the crinkly sound of their diapers when they were babies just learning to walk and my (almost) 16 year old nephew reaching his arms up to me when he was barely 2 years old saying, "Hold me, hold me."
I could go on for days about my "littles". To say I'm a proud aunt is putting it mildly.
Anyway, so my curly-haired niece pictured below just turned 12 recently and has quite an eye for photography! She has ideas for poses and pictures and I think she would make an excellent assistant for me ;). I'm also incredibly thankful for my family, especially when I ask some of them to be my "Fall models" and wear fall clothes even when it's still in the [humid] 80s down here! Heee hee hee :)
* MY 12 YEAR OLD NIECE TOOK THE PHOTO BELOW. SHE'S TAKEN QUITE AN INTEREST IN PHOTOGRAPHY!
AND HERE SHE IS "DIRECTING" HER SISTER INTO A POSE!
