OUR EDISTO BEACH TRIP

Muchhhhh needed vacation after a very “blessed” (not “busy”!) season of photo sessions. I feel so content with the work I produced for my lovely families this spring. I became more alive, more present, more confident in my art.

May 19th, Nick and I welcomed our 9th year of marriage. You know what this means…. I can spend the rest of the year planning some ridiculous mountain top vow renewal ceremony for the big 10 next year! Haaa! But really. I am. You know I am.

Like last year, Everett very much preferred to enjoy the beach from looking out the window. I’d been talking to him about our beach vacation for two months! He’d been carrying around the two beach books I made from last year’s trip; even choosing to rock with the 8x8 hardback one at least 4 times! He cracks me up!! “Yaaaaaay vacations”, he would say. We got to see the dolphins feed from our window and almost had to fight off a flock of birds while we were eating dinner on the balcony. Like me, Everett is not a fan of birds being close! Thanks, DaaaDaaaaa for throwing bread to them and encouraging them to join us at the dinner table. (insert eye roll here) Everett also only prefers the packed sand, not the soft sand. He doesn’t like to play in it but he did put his favorite train, Gordon, in the sand briefly and giggled while saying, “Messy Gordon!” :)

We had a picnic lunch on Botany Bay Beach. He was very overwhelmed at first as we were walking around the driftwood trees and the ocean. I could tell he wasn’t having a good time so I found us a good picnic spot under some palm trees so he could observe from afar. He warmed up to the atmosphere much quicker after that. I love picnics with him so much. Nick and I always went on picnics when it was just the two of us, so it makes me super happy doing this as a family.
